Here's an update on some fun we've been having this past month ...
My cousin, Marissa, visited us. She is living in the Bay area but is
from Missouri. We live closer to each other now that we have each moved
west! We had a great time at Lake Tahoe together and checking out the
Reno casinos. Marissa had some beginner's luck at the roulette table,
but not so much for us.
There are 2 other interns at the hospital. Courtney is an OT intern and
started when I did. Ashley is a PT intern and started a month after
Courtney and me. It is so nice having 2 great girls going through the
student experience with me. We spend a lot of time together co-treating
patients and also hanging out.
Shaun, Ashley, and I went to Lake Tahoe and biked to Squaw Valley (home of the 1960 Olympics). It was so beautiful!!
We all went to Pyramid Lake one weekend
for fun in the sun and some good times around the campfire. Here are
some pix of the pyramid and us - it is huge! The scenery at this lake is
gorgeous.
This week, we headed up to Virginia City, an old preserved mining town 25 miles into the mountains. We went to the murder mystery dinner theatre at Piper's Opera House. The opera house was built in 1883 and apparently was quite popular back in the day with performances from Mark Twain and Charlie Chaplain. We enjoyed ourselves even though the acting wasn't quite what it sounds like it used to be! The hosts threw in a few good ghost stories about the place too!
