Irving
has established itself as a premiere suburban location. Its enjoyable
neighborhoods fall into every price range making it a magnet in which
to live work and play. It is not just any annex to the Dallas Fort
Worth area, from humble beginnings it is a force to be reckoned with.
The cities west side has one of Irving's main benefits, the D/FW
airport. D/FW is the second busiest airport in the world generating
70,000 local jobs and $6.5 billion annually. Irving's educational
system consists of three outstanding school districts, a community
college and a major university, the Catholic-run University of Dallas
renowned for business and doctoral liberal arts programs. Sports make
up a major part of Irving's character as it is home of Texas Stadium
the field of the Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys. Likewise, the
Stanley Cup Champion Dallas Stars has its home office in Irving as do
national sporting events like the ESPN/Budweiser Volleyball Tournament,
the Equestrian Grand Prix and the GTE Byron Nelson PGA Golf Classic.
Irving is a haven for the arts as well, accredited by the Irving Arts
Center funded by the city as promotion of cultural resources. The
Center provides technical and financial assistance to new and existing
cultural and art groups and maintains a gallery of more than 20
exhibitions a year. The IAC attracts corporate, commercial and
performing art groups in the area to a multi-theater complex that is
home to Irving's arts organizations and managed by the city. The Irving
Symphony Orchestra puts on five concerts a season with each season
opener featuring a known musician. Las Colinas, a close suburb of
Irving, features its own orchestra, the 85-member Las Colinas Symphony

vocalists in works like Carmen and La Boheme. Irving also presents
entertainment with its Irving Community Concert Band, also a volunteer
organization, produces holiday concerts, children's shows, and summer
performances free of charge at locations like Victoria Park Pavillion
and the Dallas Zoo. Hosting an array of traditional choral classic
